1. As Tiger Woods collected his 50th PGA tour title on Sunday, the argument probably escalated if he is the greatest golfer of all-time. Let’s say this in respect to some of the great golfers of the past – he’s one of the best.
You have to respect the notable names of the past who made the sport great – Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson. . .there is a list of golfers who were the greatest in their eras.
Tiger is the greatest of his era. His era shouldn’t be compared with Nicklaus’ era or Nelson’s era or Hogan’s era.
Today’s equipment is superior to anything in the past. Travel is easier. Players are catered to more at each tourney site. By the same token, there are probably more golfers today capable of winning tournaments than in past days. So all this stuff evens out. It really is relative.
