No time for starting lineups since I have to write Northside’s gamer during this game and East’s story right after to beat deadline. But I’ll keep you updated as best I can.

4:30 left in first quarter
East leading 5-4 on a 3-pointer by Candis Clear and a bucket inside by Keturah Martin……East possession now with 4:04 left in quarter.

2:23 left in first quarter
Anne Marie Lanning basket gives Riverdale a 9-5 advantage…An MTSU signee, Lanning now has four points…East called for its fifth turnover already on its possession

20.0 left in first quarter
Lanning taking over….her 3-point play with 20 seconds left has Riverdale up 14-7 now……Nice move by Northside, which is in the crowd, chanting, “Let’s go East! Let’s go East!”

End of first quarter
Riverdale 14, East 7……Lanning, a Miss Basketball finalist, has nine of the Lady Warriors 14 points on 3-of-5 shooting.

Early in second quarter
Amy McNear hits from 16 feet to pull East within five (14-9)….East turns it over again on its next possession though

6:06 left in second quarter
Alex Bivens 3-pointer has given Riverdale a 17-9 lead…McNear called for traveling on other end…East’s seventh turnover already….not looking good here early for the hometown team….

4:00 left in second quarter
Now 22-11 Riverdale…..East shooting just 31.2 percent (5-of-16)…..Riverdale worse at 30 percent, but the Lady Warriors are doing everything else it takes to win, like forcing nine turnovers.

2:07 left in second quarter
Candis Clear 3-pointer has cut it to 22-14, but Clarke Davis is fouled on other end and heads to line…makes first, makes second….24-14, Riverdale.

2:03 left in third quarter
Sorry….hard to blog on East and write a story on Northside at same time, but you haven’t missed much….Riverdale remains in control after leading 28-15 at the half. The Lady Warriors, in their first state-tournament appearance since 1979, are now leading 39-26 with 1:23 left in third.

1:33 left in fourth quarter
Lanning just two much….She has 21 now against an East team that’s shooting just 31.8 percent and has 17 turnovers…..Have to give her credit…MTSU appears to be getting a good one in Lanning….Can’t help but feel bad for East, which has northside here trying to cheer it on, but it’s all but over now.

So much for that all-Memphis final…..East loses 59-42 behind 24 points from Miss Basketball finalist Anne Marie Lanning. Lady Mustangs finish season at 33-3, with just two losses to in-state teams all season. Congrats to Wanda Jones and her assistants on an outstanding season. I’m sure the Lady Mustangs will be pulling for Northside tomorrow, as the Lady Cougars did for them today.

Talk to you all tomorrow, and again, sorry for the fewer updates on East…..Just a little too much work for your boy this evening with two of the four teams in the semifinals from Memphis….Off to talk to the Lady Mustangs.
