Our prep writer Jason Smith has already posted a note about how tonight’s prep football schedule is not the best we will see this year. So, if you are a prep fan and looking for a non-football event, this is a good weekend to catch some volleyball or girls soccer action.

Collierville High School and Houston High School, are hosting a girls soccer tournament (Battle for the Blues City Invitational) with teams from California, Ohio, Mississippi and Tennessee. Some of the top teams in the country will be playing all weekend at Houston Middle School and Collierville High School.

Coach Mike Irby’s Houston squad is off to a 9-0-0 start and the Mustangs are ranked No. 1 in the CA girls soccer poll. Collierville, coached by Bill Gillespie, is our No. 2 team and currently 6-0-2 overall.
