Obviously, John Calipari was onto something when he banned his players from going to nightclubs earlier this month.

Though ugly incidents involving athletes at nightclubs are not uncommon, there seems to have been a rash of college basketball players getting into trouble this summer.

In July, Missouri forward DeMarre Carroll was shot in the ankle after a nightclub fracas.

Just a few days before Memphis’ troubles, five UAB players were cited in a large disturbance.

Now, Pitt point guard Levance Fields is in trouble after getting arrested Sunday for aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness stemming from events outside a nightclub.
