The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission recently held its monthly meeting in Camden.

Here’s a quick rundown of the stuff they covered:

** Based on recommendations from the Wildlife Management Division, the AGFC is proposing to continue the conservative turkey season structure from last year.

They recommended a spring season structure to open with a two-day statewide youth hunt April 5-6. In zone 17 the youth hunt would be March 29-30. The regular-season proposal was April 12-May 2 in zones 1, 2, 3, 4B, 5, 5B, 6, 7, 7A, 8, 9 and 10; April 5-27 in zone 17; April 12-25 in zones 1A, 4, 4A, 5A and 9A.

** The Commission tabled a proposal to increase the minimum-length limits for the commercial harvest of paddlefish on the Mississippi River. The length limit would have been increased from 34 inches to 36.

** The AGFC approved the return of more than $707,200 in fine money, collected during fiscal year 2007, to the Arkansas Department of Education. The money will be sent to the counties where the offenses occurred and used for school fish and wildlife conservation programs.
