I think that the offense will miss Miguel Barnes but not as much as it would a traditional offense. The truth of the matter is that we use our WR’s in the running game as well as anyone in the country. The bubble screens and reverses will probably become more a part of our running game this weekend because of the Barnes injury. I’m also hoping we’ll see a Triple H backfield, Hines, Hudgens and Hankins at some point.
I don’t know who is poor mouthing their team more, Cal or Jeff Caple. If you listen to them niether the Tigers or the Sooners have any business on a basketball court tonight.
This might come under the brow beating category but any self-respecting Memphis fan needs to have their fanny in the Liberty Bowl Saturday. We are looking at getting our sixth win which means our 4th bowl bid in five years. Would anyone have thought that was possible 8 weeks ago? Or six years ago? Say what you want but the fact is that the Tigers are in uncharted waters and we need to appreciate it more.
I know it was very politically uncorrect but Phil Jackson’s line the other night was simply funny. Folks need to loosen up some. If you can’t laugh then you’re in a bad way.
Is it me or does the media overblow just about everyone these days? Look, I know that athletes of today are bigger, stronger and faster than their predecessors but let careers play out before they annoited the next great thing. Derrick Rose needs time to grow. And he’s just one example of hype coming before production. I guess whatever sells magazines, newspapers or gets ratings is more important than perfection.
The BCS is a sham (as if you didn’t know) if Oregon and Kansas both go unbeaten and one of them is ignored for the championship. It will also be a travesty if Hawaii doesn’t get a BCS game bid as well. I think that any D-1A team that goes through an unbeaten season should be rewarded. But it is all too familar to see them ignored by the “powers that be” in college football.
Finally, another reminder to get out and see the Tigers this weekend. The team needs and warrants your support. Say what you will about the teams the Tigers play but support is what builds a program. Your being in a seat means as much as anything you can do for the football team. So if you’re within 100 miles of Memphis PLEASE GO SATURDAY!!!!
