I sincerely hope this is a late-arriving crowd, or else tonight is going to be an embarrassment for the Memphis program. While the upper deck looks like it will be reasonably full by tip-off, the lower level is a joke right now. Sure, Siena isn’t Georgetown or Arizona, but you’d think this game would at least draw as much as Arkansas State.
Normally, I would never tell fans how to spend their money. I get a premium seat, free parking and a meal. But in this case, the tickets have already been bought. People just aren’t coming. Why? Because it’s cold outside? That’s pretty lame. Unless the lower level fills in a good bit, I imagine you’ll have a pretty ticked off coach tonight, and he won’t be afraid to call out the big money people who didn’t show up tonight.

I can’t imagine there are very many people are actually fishing in this weather. But for those dedicated (and possibly deranged) folks, here’s a brief list of fishing reports from Mid-South waters:
Little Red River: Lindsey’s Resort (501-302-3139) says water conditions are good, with one generator running all day long. Trout have been biting artificial lures like Buoyant Spoons and Rapalas.
White River: Fishing guide John Berry says fishing has been excellent for wading anglers. The State Park below Bull Shoals Dam has fished well. There are very few campers there this time of year and plenty of water to fish. There have been some nice midge hatches in the afternoons. The most productive flies have been zebra midges in red with brass wire and brass beads. Partridge and orange and green butt soft hackles have been working well.
Horseshoe Lake: Local angler Clyde Gregory says the water is clear and a little low. Crappie are biting minnows and jigs in deep water. A few catfish have been caught near the piers on cut bait.
