The weather hasn’t been much better this week, but there are still some people fishing.

Here’s a brief rundown of what’s happening on lakes and streams across the Mid-South:

Arkansas

White River: Fishing guide John Berry says fishing has been consistently good, especially around Rim Shoals. Anglers who have been willing to wade downstream to White shoals have been doing particularly well. The hot flies in this section have been olive woolly buggers, No. 18 olive scuds and Dan’s turkey tail emerger. On the warmest days, there have been some really nice caddis hatches and some anglers have been reporting nice fish on elk hair caddis flies.

Little Red River: Lindsey’s Resort says the water has been clear and low with very little daily generation. Trout fishing has been good on waxworm/marshmallow combinations and Berkley Power Bait. On the rare occasions when the water is high, spinnerbaits and jigs are working well.

Horseshoe Lake: Local angler Clyde Gregory says the water is clear and low, and bream fishing has been good recently on waxworms. Trollers and side-pullers are catching lots of crappie in about 12 feet of water. Crappie anglers are also catching quite a few catfish.
