Dan Wolken

Hello from a fairly difficult place to get to. If you like to count deer processing centers, my drive here today from Columbus would have been a lot of fun for you. Anyway, the Henderson center is fulling up. The general admission seating has been pretty full for awhile, and now the lower level is starting to collect people. Should be an interesting atmosphere; a much more difficult road environment than the one Memphis encountered at Cincinnati.

Sophomore guard Doneal Mack will not play tonight. He is apparently suffering from a virus/flu-like symptoms, and he is not going to dress out. And, of course, Hashim Bailey is still out with a pectoral injury. Mack’s absence from the lineup should give Jeff Robinson an opportunity to get more minutes tonight. Robinson has been coming on of late, but the Tigers’ last three games have all been at home. Playing on the road, for a freshman, is totally different. Robinson has been shaky early in the season; that’s why he didn’t play more in the first 11 games. I did notice during the warm-ups that he shot the ball extremely well in this building.

Could be a tough game here tonight, but obviously the Tigers should win and improve to 15-0. One interesting side note, this is Marshall’s big football recruiting weekend. There is a huge block of seats behind the Marshall bench reserved for recruits, and it’s not surprising that the school would want to show those guys the campus atmosphere when Memphis is in town.
