I got a call from Bill Dance this morning, and he said he was on his way to Florida to do some filming.
He just got back from Venice, La., where he filmed two saltwater shows with fellow fishing legend Roland Martin.
For one of the shows, they used popping corks to catch big redfish. He said the reds were so aggressive that they were actually striking the corks on top of the water.
For the other show, they used giant heavy-duty spinnerbaits to catch redfish way back up in the shallow water of the Louisiana marshes. He said when the redfish hit one of those spinnerbaits, it was like the water around the bait just exploded.
As an outdoors writer, covering hunting and fishing for a living, I certainly don’t have much room to complain.
But every time I talk to Bill, I can’t help but feel just a little bit jealous.
