I get so many game camera photos from readers that they often run together in my mind.

But this one, sent to me recently by the good folks at Brandywine Island, Ark., really caught my attention.

If any of you folks know anything about scoring deer on the Boone & Crockett scale, I’d love to hear a ballpark estimate for this deer.

Long tines but only a 8 point and not that wide!150-160

That seems to the consensus opinion so far - somewhere between 145-160. I think if it walked out in front of me, I’d ground check it to find out for sure.

I’d guess in the high 130s to as much as 150 gross B&C. This buck appears to be 3 1/2 to 4 1/2, so he’s still got some antler growth ahead.

I got an e-mail this morning from a deer-savvy guy who broke it down like this:

“That’s an awesome 6-1/2 year old buck, and I’m going to say he’ll go 164-167 gross, even though I’m probably going a little light. His left G2 and G3 are just magnificent, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that G2 didn’t measure closer to 14 inches.

Main beams: 24-25 each so average 49
Inside spread: at least 20/maybe 21
G1s: 7 and 6 = 13

G2s: 12 and 13 = 25

G3s: 10.5 and 13 = 23

Mass: at least 30/maybe 32

Abnormal points: 2

I appreciate all of the comments. I have seen this deer for the past two years. His horns are better this year than last year. I believe he is 6 1/2 year old and will gross between 160 and 165.

Bryan, I will e-mail you another buck that I think could gross over 200.

200? Can’t wait to see that one!

I got the photo of the 200-class buck, Rod. It’s unbelievable. I’ll get it posted ASAP.
