After a great run on the opening day of the event, Whippoorwill Wild Agin was finally crowned the winner of the National Championship for Field Trialing Bird Dogs on Thursday.

Whippoorwill Wild Agin

Wild Agin had 10 finds way back on Feb. 11, and his owners and handlers had to sweat for 10 days while other dogs took their shots at that mark.

In the end, the award went to owners J.D. Huffman and Terry Terlep and handler Larry Huffman. The dog is pictured here with Larry’s wife, Piper.

I’ll have a complete story in Friday’s paper.
