Dexter Reed, who finished his Tiger career in 1977, is sitting a few seats down from Dajuan Wagner.
And he clearly likes what he sees of these Memphis Tigers.
“This is probably the best team ever.”
Better than the 1973 Tigers, who made it to the NCAA championship game?
“Best team ever,” Reed said, again. “They’re quicker, bigger. One through 12, they’re a lot deeper.”
High praise, indeed.
Reed also had some bad news: he talked to Larry Finch recently, and the Tiger great was back in the hospital with a foot problem. Finch has suffered the aftermath of a stroke for years. Best wishes to Coach Finch for a speedy return home.

I went to high school with Dexter at Little Rock Parkview. What does he do these days? He was a major player in the development of basketball in the state of Arkansas. I don’t believe any player before him in Arkansas was as highly decorated as he was.
