Wow. That’s all I can say about that game yesterday. It was definitely one that touched on every emotion in we Tigers fans. We got worried (a very little), we got angry, we got excited, we got a little scared (a very little there again) and we felt the thrill of victory. In the end, I was proud of our kids. I know you’re saying, “but they almost blew it.” While that may be true they also played defense well enough to win in the end. They could have easily hung their heads and let State get a clear shot off. They made it hard enough for the Bullies to secure the win.

Honestly, I’m glad it didn’t come down the officials having to decide if that shot got off in time. It was close and I couldn’t get the DVR to stop on the exact moment of the light coming on to figure out if it left his hands before the backboard light came on. I figured it didn’t matter so I didn’t put much effort into it.

Did you see the column on CBSsports.com by Freeman? I won’t use his first name because he used half the facts in his column so I’m giving him half credit. It is one of those kind of columns that make you wonder what happened to responsible journalism. If you’re wanting to rip someone you should at least get your facts straight.

I was at the Cross Canadian Ragweed show last week where I heard the oddest pre-concert chant ever. I can’t say exactly what it was but the first word started with the sixth letter of the alphabet. The rest referred to a different school in the state. It was the last thing I expect to hear there. Oh and the show was good. If you don’t know who Ragweed is, I’d advise checking them out.

Stephen Curry of Davidson is the player of the tournament to date. That kid is lighting it up especially in 2nd halves of games. The choke of the tournament goes to Texas A&M. I don’t care what the national media says the Aggies simply choked that game away. Texas almost did the same yesterday and would have won the award had Miami been able to pull it out.

Quite frankly, I still don’t think the Tigers have come close to playing their best game. The Tigers have been called for 34 fouls in the first two games. 27 have been on the big fellas, 13 in the UTA game and 14 against State. That has affected the interior defense which has been the achilles heel of this team during the 2nd halves of their tournament games. When the bigs stay out of foul trouble then no one can score on the Tigers in the low post late in the game because they can stay aggressive.

Maybe I was being too sensitive but did it seem like the CBS announcers were rooting for State yesterday to anyone else? They would get excited when State did something and were ho-hum when the Tigers succeeded.

Finally, I didn’t realize it until the game was over but the Tigers NEVER were behind in the 2nd half of the game. I’ll take that in every NCAA game.

yes, it is almost always painfully obvious how most anouncers always seem to be rooting against Memphis when they are supposedly calling an unbiased game.

That’s why bloggers are becoming more popular and newspaper subscriptions are dwindling. It’s all about reactive journalism - creating a stir regardless of how you do it. Facts? Freeman couldn’t find his ass with a map. That’s a fact.

The media is going to continue this bias against Memphis until they win the whole thing. If they lose, regardless if it’s in the title game, everyone is going to talk about their weak conference.
