I love it. We dominate MSU and the pundits say, “But they can’t do that to Texas.” Well, the Tigers might not be able to beat Texas by 30 at the half. But I promise you that if Texas believes anything the media is saying then they are in for a long afternoon tomorrow. The Tigers are as focused as any team I’ve ever seen.

The only real problem I have with this Tigers team is that when they get up 30 they relax a bit. Though it isn’t really a bad thing because if you’re up by 30 it isn’t likely you’re going to lose. Evidenced last night when the Spartans went on two big runs and it only got them back to within 20 freakin’ points. Yeah, that’s letting up.

Was anyone else annoyed by Izzo’s fouling during the final four minutes? Look I don’t mind a team playing to win despite the odds. With that said, if you’re down 17 with a 1:15 on the clock it is time to pack it in. Especially the foul on CDR on the breakaway. That was a situation that could have injured both players for a basket that was meaningless in the big picture.

Other games look to be in slow motion as compared to the Tigers. Their speed is simply amazing.

I personally wasn’t impressed with either Tennessee or Louisville the other night for one primary reason, ball security. I saw more bad passes that didn’t have to be made in that game than I can ever recall seeing. In my ever so humble opinion, if you can’t take care of the ball then you can get in very bad shape very quickly.

Speaking of Louisville, a couple of other odd notes. I noticed something the ESPN talking heads seem to be missing or haven’t mentioned. The Cardinals and North Carolina men’s and women’s teams play each other today. The women square off in their Sweet 16 and the men in the Elite Eight. Also, won’t the Sheraton people look like geniuses if the Tigers and Cardinals make the Final?

The set up at Reliant Stadium minimizes the home court advantage for the Longhorns. The noise won’t get as loud as it would in a confined arena. And with the fans back away from the floor it takes a lot of that “home court’ feel away. That’s not to say they don’t have an advantage either. But I actually think the fact that we were seeded this way is what make that chip on the Tigers’ collective shoulder much bigger.

Let’s do this. I’m feeling pretty good about our chances.

Hey, I definitely agree that it was worrying to see all those hard shots toward the end of the Mich. State game. Why did we still have in so many starters that could get hurt?

I realize you can’t let up for a second on a good team but there needs to be enough depth that we can have solid replacements in when we’re up so that our mainstays don’t get hurt. I can’t fault Michigan State for not giving up, but I do think Mich State could have tried to win without being so rough.

One of our players landed on his back after being hit from behind under the basket and hit his head near the end - and he didn’t seem to get medical attention. I wonder if the staff didn’t see he hit his head. He kept playing off and on the last few minutes.

I hope Calipari makes sure Rose gets whatever stitches he needs to protect his face (regardless of being “mad” about stitches) and Taggart or whoever gets whatever proper medical attention he needs too. We need to protect our guys. Derrick should do whatever the doctors say is necessary to keep the cut closed and trust that the athletic dept will use great doctors.

If you see Derrick’s cut get opened up in this game, then you’ll know what sort of class Texas has. I hope it’s a clean game and the team that wins does so fair and square. I don’t make any predictions about our chances particularly because I prefer to be prepared for the worst and pleasantly surprised if things go well. The other team always cries about how they are disrespected if your team goes in expecting to win something.
