“So now we’ll see what the next knock is.” That’s what CDR said yesterday after the game. From where I’m sitting that may be the mantra for this Tigers team. Keep it up national media because we want you to “knock” the Tigers to two more wins. Andre Allen said something a while back that still sticks out in my mind, “we’ll just have to kill everybody” when asked about the Tigers being respected. I think those two statements by those kids (and they are kids) tells me that no matter what the media may say this week the Tigers won’t feel fully vindicated until next Monday night.

I love it. We dominate MSU and the pundits say, “But they can’t do that to Texas.” Well, the Tigers might not be able to beat Texas by 30 at the half. But I promise you that if Texas believes anything the media is saying then they are in for a long afternoon tomorrow. The Tigers are as focused as any team I’ve ever seen.

I know Coach Cal is tired of hearing about free throws. I am also tired of hearing about it so I thought I’d look into the actual impact they may or may not have on a game.

This season the Tigers have gone to the line 878 times in their 36 games. They have made 520 of them. That means that they average right at 24 FT attempts and 14 makes per game. Opponents have gone 454 of 671 from the line. That number is skewed as Southern Miss went 24 of 26 in the C-USA semis and UAB went 20-22 in the game at Birmingham but stats are what they are. That numbers shows that opponents average right at 12 ppg from the line. Therefore the Tigers have scored two more points every game from the line that their opponents. Considering only five of the Tigers games were closer than 10 points it has had little relevance to the Tigers winning or losing games.

Wow, 100 wins in 3 seasons. That, ladies and gentlemen, is one helluva accomplishment. I have looked in newspapers and other media sources online and didn’t see it mentioned. The fact of the matter is that the Tigers are in rarified air with those 100 wins and no one seems interested in the media.

I think I’m just going to turn off the sports networks for the week. I just heard Digger Phelps and Hubert (I hate everyone not in a “BCS conference) Davis pick Mississippi State and Pittsburgh as the sleeper teams in the South Region. That’s right Davis is picking Mississippi State to beat the Tigers in the 2nd round. Their disdain for all things “non-BCS” conference or “not appearing on ESPN” is shining through.

I have figured out why folks made such a big deal about how the Tigers played on the road. It is because the NCAA selection committee has us penciled in for a road game in the tournament to start the season. It started with UCLA in San Jose, then there was Texas A&M in San Antonio and now we get Texas in Houston. You can’t tell me that it’s coincidental folks.

I personally want to thank Seth Davis for NOT picking us. Over the past 3 tournaments he has picked us 3 times. It’s kind of like me betting on the Tigers back in the day. I bet on the Tigers in 1984-85 I bet on the Tigers 4 times. Guess what their record was? Yep, you guessed it 31-4 and you can only guess which 4 they lost. So Seth stay off the bandwagon you are not welcome.

Another C-USA season and tournament is in the books and once again the Tigers stand atop the conference. Yes, I know that’s obvious to you all but it makes me feel good to say it so I’m saying it.

I want to say congratulations to the Tigers for their win today and the fantastic season. Back to back perfect conference seasons was a fitting conclusion to the career of Joey Dorsey. The media may not like him but we Tigers fans LOVE the kid. What about Big AA. Anderson winning the MVP of the tournament should put the rest of the country on alert that the Tigers are a TEAM. They have many guys who can beat you.

The Tigers Fans category is a collection of contributers from the community. These zealous fans will be blogging with us throughout the U of M season. I've been a Tigers fan since was a little Cub. My father was a Marine and my household consisted of an Alabama fan (mother) and Kentucky fan (dad). So being a Tigers fan was not only rebellious but proved that I'm smarter than both of them. During the first Final Four run my friend Bryan and I recreated every move Larry Finch, Ronnie Robinson, Bill Laurie and Larry Kenon made on the floor with a nerf ball and a KFC bucket nailed over the door. I love my Tigers. They are my second family. The Tigers have been there to divert me from very difficult times in my life. They have given me some of the greatest moments of my life. I love my family and the Tigers come in a close second. Even though my wife thinks otherwise sometimes.
